Entries open for prestigious AGRI KIDSNZ regional finals 2020
The time has come for primary school students across the country to get their teams of three together for the AgriKidsNZ regional finals!
Entries have just opened for the 2020 season which runs alongside the FMG Young Farmer and FMG Junior Young Farmer Contest regional finals.
Last year, spaces filled up in a record amount of time, with five out of seven reaching full capacity.
Students aged 8 to 13 years old are eligible to enter in teams of three, where they compete in eight different modules based on the primary sector.
Gumboot throwing, fencing, driving go-karts, sack racing and fitting chains on motorbikes are just some of the practical activities the teams have had to tackle in previous years.
On the day, the top seven teams will go through to each region’s “Race Off” where they will be judged on quality and time over a mixture of tasks.
From there, points are tallied and the top three teams from each regional final are invited to the grand final to battle it out for the champion’s title.
This will be held in Christchurch on 3–4 July.
The competition is open and free to all members but with the rate spots fill up at, we urge parents and schools to get their kids in quick!
Last year’s winners were Blue Mountain College trio Shamus Young, Archie Chittock and Flynn Hill.
